DreamSpace933 was created by artists for artists. Our vision behind renovating this 1913 home was to create a community where artists of all kinds can have a safe space to pursue their dreams.
We have featured several Kansas artists and musicians showcased on our Art & History Wall, including our own artists in residence!
The house sat vacant for 9 years and was originally painted with blue accents. There was a beautiful floral wallpaper in the main living areas, and we knew we needed to save what we could of it. With a lot of hard work from our team, we renovated and designed the whole house and added on 1 more bedroom and 2 more bathrooms.
You can now recognize the house by our pink doors!
Charles McAfee, who went on to become one of the most famous African American architects in the country, grew up in this house. He and his siblings, who are known as The McAfee 3, went to school across the street during the time of segregation. We have hung a plaque next to the front door in their honor.
This house has always been a home for dreamers.
